TXCPA Asks Congress to Support Bipartisan Letters to Treasury and the IRS for Improved Taxpayer Services

TXCPA joined other state CPA societies asking members of Congress to support bipartisan House and Senate letters to improve this year’s tax filing season process. The letters ask the IRS and Treasury for a 90-day freeze on automated collections, targeted tax penalty relief and to expedite processing of amended returns.
TXCPA has also asked the IRS to halt collection efforts and other administrative actions against taxpayers while related correspondence is unread or unresolved.

TXCPA met with members of Congress during the AICPA Capitol Hill visits to encourage the House and Senate to support federal legislation addressing COVID penalty relief, natural disaster declaration filing extensions, and adding accounting as a STEM designation to help increase the number of students entering the accounting profession.
